In January 2026, AbbVie entered a voluntary agreement with the U.S. government to lower Medicaid prices and expand affordable direct-to-patient offerings. AbbVie also pledged $100 billion of U.S.-based research and development and capital investments, including manufacturing, over the next decade. In exchange, the U.S. government agreed to provide a three-year exemption from tariffs and future price mandates. Separately, the Inflation Reduction Act requires government-set Medicare prices for Botox in Parts B and D beginning in 2028.
