North America liquid sweetener demand remained soft, although starch demand showed signs of recovery. EMEA starches and sweeteners experienced demand softness across food and industrial markets, with lower volumes and margins during the six-month period. Global Wheat Milling volumes remained relatively stable in the quarter but operated against a more competitive pricing backdrop, while EMEA results were affected by competitive pricing. International energy prices supported globally competitive U.S. ethanol values.
