Akamai launched Akamai Workforce Protector, formerly LayerX, to secure employee and AI-agent interactions with enterprise data and applications. The product provides visibility into AI usage, controls shadow AI, supports a secure enterprise browser, and delivers real-time data-loss prevention. It integrates natively with Akamai’s global private access solution and is designed to deploy without disrupting existing network architecture. Akamai’s accompanying research found that nearly half of enterprise AI use bypasses corporate security, creating demand for controls against AI-native attack vectors such as Vibe hacking, CursorJacking, and CometJacking.
