Applied Materials plans to invest $5 billion in India through 2035, covering semiconductor research, equipment development, supply-chain expansion, and workforce development. The company intends to establish a 140-acre semiconductor research park near Bengaluru and more than double its India-based R&D workforce. The initiative will expand Applied Materials’ India supplier network and integrate the country more deeply into its global semiconductor operations, including support for AI-driven wafer fabrication and advanced packaging. India currently has significant semiconductor consumption and design activity but has not yet achieved commercial production from a large-scale fabrication plant.
