Technology and infrastructure expense increased 22% to $33.2 billion in Q2 2026 and 25% to $62.7 billion for six months, primarily because of higher infrastructure spending, depreciation, and amortization supporting AWS growth and artificial-intelligence initiatives. Fulfillment expense rose 14% to $29.6 billion in Q2 and 13% to $56.9 billion for six months as Amazon expanded its fulfillment network, partially offset by operating efficiencies. Shipping costs increased to $27.9 billion in Q2 and $53.6 billion for six months from $23.4 billion and $45.9 billion, respectively, reflecting higher sales volumes and shipping-service usage. Sales and marketing expense was broadly stable at $11.7 billion in Q2 and $22.0 billion for six months, while general and administrative expense declined 6% to $2.8 billion in Q2 and 4% to $5.4 billion for six months because of lower payroll-related expense.
