The income tax provision increased to $2,187 million for the quarter and $3,853 million for the first three fiscal quarters of fiscal 2026. The comparable prior-year provisions were $1,145 million and $1,252 million, respectively. The increases primarily reflected higher income before income taxes. Year-to-date other income also included a $315 million gain from reversing excise tax charges related to the VMware acquisition after final Inflation Reduction Act regulations exempted common-stock purchases in acquisitions from the excise tax.
