737 MAX Structural Inspections

BOEING CO · 2026-08-07 · Importance 44 · Surprise 60 · In source text

The FAA ordered inspections of 471 U.S.-registered Boeing 737 MAX 8, MAX 9, and MAX 8-200 aircraft for possible cracks near a structural reinforcement around the forward service door. The directive takes effect on September 10, 2026, and follows cracking identified in older 737 Next Generation aircraft with similar design and manufacturing processes. Boeing said the issue had not been observed in the MAX fleet, but it is implementing manufacturing changes and working with operators to address the potential structural-integrity risk.
