Boeing and Oak Ridge National Laboratory developed a 3D-printed Stamp Form Die using wire-arc additive manufacturing for composite aircraft production. The die is being developed for NASA’s Hi-Rate Composite Aircraft Manufacturing project and is intended to accelerate production of thermoplastic composite parts. Its multi-material printing and internally optimized cooling channels are designed to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce tooling costs. The technology could strengthen Boeing’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and the broader U.S. aerospace industrial base.
