Berkshire Hathaway said Warren Buffett donated 12 million Class B shares, valued at about $6 billion, to four family foundations. Buffett stated his goal is to dispose of all of his Berkshire shares within about eight years, targeting completion by the end of 2034, and the reports say he plans to give away roughly $138 billion more by 2034. The size and timing of these donations are material relative to Berkshire’s equity base and could meaningfully reallocate long-term share ownership and voting interests over the 2026–2034 timeframe.
