Six-month purchased power and fuel expense increased $2.859 billion, or 38.0%, to $10.375 billion, including $2.388 billion from Calpine. Six-month operating and maintenance expense increased $871 million, primarily because of higher labor, contracting, materials, administrative costs, and the addition of Calpine operations. Depreciation and amortization increased $384 million for the six months, primarily from assets acquired in the Calpine transaction.
