Blue Point Low-Carbon Project
CF Industries Holdings, Inc. · 2026-08-06 · Importance 71 · Surprise 60 · In source text
CF Industries owns 40% of the Blue Point One joint venture with JERA and Mitsui, which is constructing a low-carbon ammonia facility in Modeste, Louisiana. State and federal permits were received in July 2026, construction commenced in August 2026, and low-carbon ammonia production is expected to begin in 2029. The facility is estimated to cost approximately $3.7 billion, with roughly one-third of materials expected to be imported and most imported materials arriving in Louisiana in 2028. The plant is designed for approximately 1.4 million metric tons of annual ammonia capacity, more than 95% CO2 capture and approximately 2.3 million metric tons of annual CO2 sequestration; CF Industries also plans to invest approximately $550 million in common infrastructure.
