CF Industries completed its Donaldsonville, Louisiana, carbon-capture project in July 2025, enabling annual low-carbon ammonia capacity of approximately 1.9 million tons and sequestration of up to 2 million metric tons of CO2. In 2026, the company began selling low-carbon upgraded products, with PepsiCo purchasing low-carbon UAN for use in its product supply chain. The Blue Point One facility is designed to produce approximately 1.4 million metric tons of low-carbon ammonia annually and capture more than 95% of production-related CO2, with production expected to begin in 2029. Low-carbon ammonia is being positioned for traditional fertilizer uses and new applications including power generation, steel production and marine shipping.
