CenterPoint Energy has hardened more than 500 miles of power lines across Greater Houston through its Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative (GHRI), launched in August 2024. The company is targeting 750 hardened miles by the end of 2026. Work includes stronger poles, automation devices, undergrounding, and extensive tree trimming to improve resilience against extreme weather. CenterPoint projects the measures will avoid more than 150 million customer outage minutes by year-end 2026.
