At May 10, 2026 Costco held cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments of $19,996 million, up from $15,284 million at August 31, 2025; unsettled credit and debit card receivables comprised approximately $3,078 million of those balances. The company had borrowing capacity under bank credit facilities of $1,531 million (including $1,028 million maintained by Canadian and Other International operations, $338 million of which is guaranteed by the Company) and commercial/standby letter-of-credit facilities totaling $242 million with $205 million outstanding. Management states that its cash/investment positions, operating cash flow, and available credit capacity are sufficient to meet liquidity and capital requirements for the foreseeable future. Costco also noted material contractual obligations (purchase obligations, long-term debt, leases, construction and land purchases) with the majority due within 12 months.
