PBM Rebate and Pricing Pressure
CVS HEALTH Corp · 2026-08-05 · Importance 29 · Surprise 24 · In source text
CVS Caremark continues to share a larger portion of pharmaceutical-manufacturer rebates, fees and discounts with clients and typically provides minimum pricing guarantees. Management said these guarantees cannot always be achieved and that pharmaceutical manufacturers are applying increasing pressure to rebate calculation and collection. Marketplace dynamics and regulatory changes have also limited the companys ability to offer plan sponsors pricing containing retail-network differential or spread. Continued pharmacy client price improvements partially offset improved purchasing economics and pharmacy drug mix in Health Services.
