Litigation and Legal Risk

DuPont de Nemours, Inc. · 2026-08-06 · Importance 65 · Surprise 60

A federal judge approved more than $2.5 billion of settlements resolving New Jersey claims against DuPont-related entities, Chemours, Corteva, and 3M over PFAS contamination. The settlements cover natural-resource damages, site cleanup, and drinking-water contamination. The DuPont-related settlement is valued at up to $2.5 billion, while 3M’s separate settlement is valued at up to $450 million. Court approval makes the New Jersey agreements enforceable and establishes a material environmental-liability precedent for DuPont and its former affiliates.
