John Deere is releasing software updates for construction, farm, and forestry equipment to prevent engine shutdowns caused by diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) derate faults. The updates align with new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines and extend the operator response period to approximately 20 hours, compared with the prior four-hour shutdown requirement. Deere began rolling out the updates in November and expects implementation to be complete by the end of 2027.
