Caterpillar plans to invest $1 billion to expand compact construction-equipment manufacturing capacity. The investment includes a new facility in Sanford, North Carolina, focused on compact track loaders and telehandlers serving construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material-handling customers. Caterpillar’s Cat Compact strategy is intended to simplify access for small contractors and strengthen its competitive position against Deere and Komatsu.
