Sports Rights and Subscribers

Walt Disney Co · 2026-08-05 · Importance 63 · Surprise 50

Sports subscription and affiliate fees increased 4% for the nine-month period, as higher effective rates and the NFL Transaction were partly offset by 3% fewer subscribers and a temporary carriage suspension with an affiliate. Quarterly subscription and affiliate fee growth was 8%, driven by higher rates and the NFL Transaction. Programming and production costs increased because of contractual rate increases, new sports rights and the timing of rights-cost recognition following the NBA contract renewal. UFC pay-per-view revenue and related rights costs declined after Disney’s UFC rights expired in December 2025.
