Duke Energy Progress reached a settlement with North Carolina Public Staff and other stakeholders that would reduce the proposed rate increase by more than half. The agreement would produce an average annual customer rate increase of 3.4% over two years beginning January 1, 2027, subject to approval by the North Carolina Utilities Commission. The settlement includes accelerated refunds of approximately $120 million in annual federal tax credits to customers. Duke shareholders would provide an additional $10 million for low-income bill assistance and weatherization programs.
