Duke Energy recorded $248 million pretax in the first six months of 2026 for legal and regulatory settlements, including settlements related to Duke Energy Carolinas’ North Carolina rate case and a regulatory liability tied to an energy-efficiency program. The settlements reduced six-month 2026 adjusted EPS by $0.24 and included a $59 million tax benefit. In the second quarter, the North Carolina rate-case settlements generated a $51 million pretax charge, or $39 million after tax, reducing reported EPS by $0.05.
