Owned summer generating capacity increased to 52,048 MW from 50,569 MW year over year across Electric Utilities and Infrastructure. Duke Energy Florida's summer capacity rose 9.9% to 11,929 MW, while Duke Energy Progress increased summer capacity 2.2% to 12,865 MW. Nuclear capacity factors were 93% in the second quarter at both the overall electric segment and Duke Energy Carolinas, down from 99% and 100%, respectively, in the prior-year quarter. Duke Energy Indiana increased second-quarter total generation 12.3% and natural-gas-and-oil generation 17.9%, while purchased power declined 22.0%.
