Operating Expense Trends
DAVITA INC. · 2026-08-04 · Importance 42 · Surprise 14
Patient-care costs rose to $2.392 billion in the second quarter of 2026 from $2.262 billion in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of $130 million. Six-month patient-care costs were $4.734 billion, up $233 million year over year, primarily because of higher compensation, insurance and health-benefit expenses. General and administrative expense increased to $423 million from $413 million year over year and to $331 million from $320 million sequentially. Sequential G&A growth was primarily driven by higher professional fees, while year-to-date growth reflected higher IT and compensation costs partly offset by lower cybersecurity-incident costs.
