In June 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued a proposed rule addressing the Medicare End Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System for calendar year 2027. CMS estimates that the proposal would increase average reimbursement for freestanding ESRD facilities by 1.1% in 2027. The proposed increase includes payment for incorporating phosphate binders into the ESRD PPS base rate.
