Membership / Enrollment Trends
Elevance Health, Inc. · 2026-07-15 · Importance 68 · Surprise 58
Total medical membership declined 1.5% from June 30, 2025 to June 30, 2026, driven primarily by Medicaid attrition (8,358k vs 8,733k, down 375k or 4.3%) and declines in Medicare lines. Medicare Advantage membership fell 358k (from 2,255k to 1,897k), a 15.9% decrease, and total Medicare membership decreased 10.8% (from 3,129k to 2,790k), each exceeding a 10% YoY change. These shifts are attributed largely to state Medicaid eligibility redeterminations and related changes in member effectuation, and have driven elevated morbidity and medical cost trends. Offsetting items include growth in Employer Group Fee-Based membership and a 10.6% increase in Vision membership (up 1,142k to 11,912k).
