The Tri-Agencies issued final mental health parity regulations in September 2024 that require health plans to make administrative and operational changes to comply; some provisions became effective January 1, 2025. Elevance indicates additional guidance is still needed to fully assess operational and financial impacts and notes litigation has been filed challenging the regulations. The company expects these regulations to require administrative and systems changes across its Health Benefits and Carelon Services businesses (behavioral health), with ongoing monitoring of litigation and agency guidance. Compliance efforts could increase administrative costs and affect care management operations.
