Diamondback’s Midland Basin wells showed a significant rebound in early 2026, with no reported signs of productivity degradation. The improvement reflects optimization of drilling operations across the Permian Basin. Diamondback is also drilling a four-well pad targeting the Barnett Shale formation exclusively in the Midland Basin. The Barnett project is notable because the formation is traditionally associated with natural gas but is being developed there for oil.
