Blue Bird entered an agreement with Ford to develop the next generation of F-53 and F-59 commercial stripped chassis. Blue Bird will assume responsibility for design, manufacturing and sales, while integrating Ford powertrains into chassis intended for applications including box trucks and motorhomes. Production is planned to begin in 2028, expanding Ford’s commercial-vehicle reach through a partner-led channel. Blue Bird also plans to acquire Detroit Chassis’s Detroit Assembly Plant assets to support the launch.
