GE Aerospace and Kratos Defense & Security Solutions secured a U.S. Air Force Engineering, Manufacturing and Development contract for the jointly developed GEK800 engine. The engine received the U.S. military type designation F143-ZZ-100, establishing it as a second-source propulsion system for the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM). The 800-pound-thrust turbofan has completed more than 50 ground tests and altitude testing and is designed for long-range missiles and other uncrewed applications.
