Research and development expense increased 18% to $1.8 billion in the second quarter of 2026 and 9% to $3.1 billion for the first six months. Personnel, infrastructure and other support costs increased primarily because of acquisition integration activities. Those costs included $229 million of stock-based compensation related to the Arcellx, Ouro Medicines and Tubulis acquisitions. Clinical studies and other costs declined 3% in both the quarter and year-to-date period because of lower oncology clinical study activity.
