The effective tax rate declined to negative 2.4% in the second quarter of 2026 from 19.3% in the prior-year quarter. For the first six months, the effective tax rate declined to negative 10.4% from 19.7%. The change was primarily caused by non-deductible acquired IPR&D expenses from the Arcellx, Tubulis and Ouro Medicines acquisitions. Gilead stated that OECD Pillar Two requirements are not expected to materially affect results, liquidity or capital resources.
