SAIC Joint Venture Renewal

General Motors and SAIC Motor extended their Chinese joint venture for 20 years through 2047. The partnership will focus on domestic Buick and Cadillac sales in China and exports of China-built Chevrolet vehicles to non-U.S. markets. GM and SAIC plan to launch at least 30 new-energy vehicle models by 2030. The renewal follows restructuring that included plant closures and model eliminations in GM’s China business.
