General Motors and SAIC Motor extended their China joint-venture agreement for 20 years through 2047. The partnership will focus on domestic sales of Buick and Cadillac vehicles in China and exports of Chevrolet vehicles produced in China to non-U.S. markets. The joint venture plans to launch at least 30 new-energy vehicle models by 2030 and deploy technology developed in China for the Chinese market. The agreement follows restructuring that included plant closures and model reductions, amid continuing U.S.-China geopolitical tensions.
