GM and SAIC Motor extended their Chinese joint venture through 2047 following a restructuring that included plant closures and model reductions. The renewed partnership will focus on domestic Buick and Cadillac sales in China, exports of China-built Chevrolet vehicles to non-U.S. markets, and technology, R&D, and supply-chain coordination. The partners plan to launch at least 30 new-energy vehicles by 2030, including the exported Buick Electra E7, while using China-developed intelligent-vehicle technologies for the local market.
