Alphabet agreed to purchase 1 million tonnes of near-term methane impact by 2030 and 1 million tonnes of carbon-removal impact by 2040 from Terradot’s enhanced-rock-weathering project in Southern Brazil. The project combines methane avoidance in rice farming with permanent carbon dioxide removal. It is Alphabet’s largest carbon-removal purchase to date and creates long-term execution and verification exposure for its climate commitments.
