Alphabet signed an agreement with Georgia Power to support equipment upgrades at the Vogtle and Hatch nuclear plants in Georgia. The upgrades could add 96 megawatts of generation capacity to the grid for data-center and other large-user demand. The reported upgrade program is valued at approximately $900 million and requires approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission. Under the agreement, Google would subscribe to a new tariff structure and receive low-carbon energy credits, while non-participating customers would be shielded from upgrade costs.
