Net sales were $41.8 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, up 4.8% versus the prior-year quarter, reflecting both positive comparable sales and contributions from new stores and branches. Comparable sales increased 0.6%, driven by a 2.2% rise in comparable average ticket partially offset by a 1.3% decline in comparable customer transactions, indicating fewer but larger transactions consistent with demand for smaller home improvement projects. Several merchandising departments — Storage & Organization, Power, Hardware, Plumbing, Electrical, Bath, Indoor Garden, Paint and Kitchen & Blinds — posted positive comparable sales, showing breadth of demand across categories. Foreign exchange was also a tailwind, with a weaker U.S. dollar adding approximately $220 million to net sales in the quarter.
