Research and development expenses increased as a percentage of net sales in both Q2 and the first six months of 2026. The increase reflected greater investment in new product development within Aerospace Technologies. Total research and development costs were $1.586 billion in the six months ended June 30, 2026, including $1.016 billion of company-funded research and development expense. Customer-sponsored research and development represented the remaining approximately $570 million of reported six-month R&D costs.
