The U.S. population aged 45 and older is projected to grow approximately 10% from 2026 to 2036 and approximately 17% from 2026 to 2046, compared with total population growth of approximately 4% and 6%, respectively. Americans aged 85 and older are expected to increase from more than seven million in 2026 to more than 17 million by 2050, while the population aged 65 to 84 is projected to increase approximately 12% over the same period. CMS reported U.S. healthcare spending of approximately $5.3 trillion in 2024, or 18.0% of GDP, and projects spending to reach approximately $9.0 trillion by 2034, or 20.6% of GDP. Henry Schein expects demand for its products and services to grow, while remaining affected by operating, economic and industry conditions.
