Competition and Market Share
INTEL CORP · 2026-01-23 · Importance 17 · Surprise 24
Intel identifies intense competition across client, data center and foundry markets: AMD competes across x86 CPUs in both CCG and DCAI, NVIDIA dominates demand for GPU systems for generative AI, and ARM-based rivals such as Apple, Qualcomm and MediaTek pressure the client market. In data center and AI markets Intel also competes with hyperscalers developing custom silicon (Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft) and with Broadcom in custom ASIC development. In foundry, Intel competes with TSMC and Samsung at the leading edge and with GlobalFoundries, UMC and SMIC on mature nodes. The filing states GPU-focused systems have captured the highest demand for AI, often at the expense of CPU investment, and Intel expects the competitive landscape to intensify.
Key facts
- Intel reported that the semiconductor foundry market is capital intensive and that only a few manufacturers have sufficient scale, naming TSMC and Samsung as the other companies investing in 2nm lithography and next-generation transistor architectures alongside Intel.
