Intuitive Surgical plans to open a 316,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia, by 2028. The plant is expected to produce instruments and electromechanical devices for the da Vinci surgical system and create approximately 1,200 jobs. The expansion is intended to improve supply resilience, expand regional access, and support growth in Asia Pacific. Establishing capacity in Malaysia may also help mitigate rising tariff exposure in Asia.
