Medtronic received U.S. FDA clearance for its LigaSure vessel-sealing technology to be used with the Hugo soft tissue robotic surgery system. The clearance allows U.S. surgeons to use the familiar LigaSure instrument in robotic-assisted procedures, extending a capability already available on Hugo in Europe. Medtronic is integrating established surgical tools with Hugo to strengthen the platform’s competitive positioning and pursue market share against Intuitive Surgical.
