Consumer Credit Demand

JPMORGAN CHASE & CO · 2026-08-06 · Importance 49 · Surprise 32

Total credit card loans increased from December 31, 2025 as new-account growth more than offset the seasonal reduction from elevated year-end balances. Credit card exposure, including lending commitments, increased to $1.47 trillion from $1.43 trillion, while 30-plus-day and 90-plus-day delinquency rates improved to 1.91% and 1.00%, respectively, from 2.16% and 1.10%. Residential real estate loans declined because paydowns exceeded originations, while auto and other loans benefited from improved used-vehicle valuations and lower net charge-offs.
