Mounjaro Cardiovascular Indication

The U.S. FDA approved Mounjaro (tirzepatide) to reduce major adverse cardiovascular events, including cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack and non-fatal stroke, in adults with type 2 diabetes at high risk of these outcomes. The approval adds cardiovascular-risk reduction to Mounjaro’s established blood-glucose and weight-loss benefits. Lilly said Mounjaro is the first and only dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist proven to lower these cardiovascular risks in this population. The expanded label strengthens Mounjaro’s positioning among adults with type 2 diabetes who also have elevated cardiovascular risk.
