Eli Lilly broke ground on a $6.5 billion biomanufacturing facility at Generation Park in Houston, Texas, with operations planned to begin in 2030. The site is expected to manufacture active pharmaceutical ingredients for Foundayo (orforglipron), Lilly’s oral GLP-1 receptor agonist, and other advanced therapeutics. The project is expected to create more than 600 high-wage jobs and over 4,000 construction jobs, while a $12.5 million partnership with San Jacinto College will support workforce training. The Houston site is Lilly’s fifth domestic API production location announced since 2020 and forms part of a reported $50 billion U.S. medicine-reshoring effort.
