Under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, Medicare beneficiaries obtained access to discounted Lilly obesity medicines beginning July 1, 2026, while individual state Medicaid programs may separately expand access. Lilly is continuing discussions with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regarding long-term Medicare access to obesity medicines, but the uptake from expanded access remains unknown. U.S. private payers and pharmacy benefit managers continue to influence pharmaceutical demand through coverage decisions, negotiated manufacturer prices and rebates, and pharmacy reimbursement rates.
