Microchip Technology collaborated with Micron Technology to demonstrate an end-to-end PCIe Gen 6 storage architecture for AI, high-performance computing, and cloud data centers. The solution combines Microchip’s Switchtec PCIe Gen 6 switches with Micron’s 9650 NVMe SSDs. The architecture doubles PCIe 5.0 bandwidth to 64 GT/s per lane and is intended to strengthen Microchip’s positioning in enterprise data-center connectivity against competitors such as Broadcom and Astera Labs.
