MetLife’s second-quarter 2026 net income increased 1% year over year to $705 million, or $1.09 per share. Adjusted earnings rose 15% to approximately $1.6 billion, while adjusted earnings per share increased 20% to $2.43. Adjusted return on equity reached 17.0%, the top end of MetLife’s 15%–17% annual target range. Results were supported by favorable underwriting, broad volume growth, and higher investment income, although lower variable investment income and higher expenses were headwinds.
