Supply Chain Constraints
MOSAIC CO · 2026-08-04 · Importance 58 · Surprise 56
Sulfur and ammonia markets continue to face widespread disruption, raising raw-material costs and causing production curtailments across the global phosphate industry. Second-quarter sulfur costs averaged $522 per long ton, while third-quarter contracts with U.S. Gulf Coast refiners were settled at $705 per long ton. Mosaic said global phosphate supply is expected to remain constrained through year-end because of production curtailments, reduced Chinese exports, and continuing raw-material disruptions. In Brazil, sulfur affordability and availability are driving the idling of commodity fertilizer production.
