Phosphate Manufacturing Capacity

MOSAIC CO · 2026-08-05 · Importance 53 · Surprise 48 · From source text

Mosaic temporarily curtailed production at certain Phosphate facilities in North America and Brazil in response to weak market conditions and limited sulfur supply. North American Phosphate processed-production operating rates declined to 58% in the second quarter from 61%, while North American phosphate-rock production fell to 2.1 million tonnes from 2.7 million tonnes as mining moved into new areas. In Brazil, idling the Araxá and Fospar facilities, idling the Patrocínio mine, and curtailing Tapira and Catalão reduced second-quarter phosphate production 52% and lowered the operating rate to 47% from 84%. The company stated that additional temporary production curtailments could occur in the third quarter across North American and Brazilian Phosphate facilities and Brazilian blending units.
